Innovation and Technology in Hawaii: An Economic and Workforce Profile"

Kathy McKenzie
Project Manager & Director of Membership
Hawaii Science & Technology Council

Synopsis  Come glimpse into the future of the tech economy of Hawai’i!

The Hawai'i Science and Technology Institute, in conjunction with The State of Hawai'i Department of Business and Economic Development and Tourism, and The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness, have recently completed a landmark research study that explores the innovation and technology sector, and the technology talent pool in Hawai'i.

While there remains no doubt that the sun, the sea, and the land are key economic drivers in Hawaii’s future, leaders have come to recognize the increasing importance of developing another critical asset: the knowledge and talent of the state’s people. Innovation and technology, in particular, represent the foundation on which Hawaii is achieving productivity growth and competitive advantage. As Hawaii’s people want better jobs for themselves and their children, industries must transform or emerge to provide those opportunities.

The information that you will glean can help your company and you to position for what is coming with more certainty.  You will see where Hawai'i is today, and where Hawai'i may be in the coming decade!
